"When we started our work together, there were no vertebrate paleontologists working in Moroccan universities, no natural history museums, and no labs for cleaning and preparing fossils," she recalled.

The project not only yields important specimens like Spicomellus but also fosters education and support for Moroccan researchers. By establishing a lab at Sidi Mohamed Ben Abdellah University in Fes, the team has built an ongoing legacy that promotes scientific inquiry and local involvement.
