Austin, Texas — A deadly trailer home fire early Tuesday morning claimed the life of an 84 year old woman and left three other adults injured, authorities confirmed, as emergency crews and investigators responded to a devastating scene in rural Milam County.
Just before 1 a.m., the Milam County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a structure fire in the 130 block of County Road 242, where deputies and firefighters from multiple departments arrived to find a trailer home fully engulfed in flames.
Despite rapid efforts by first responders, officials said the elderly woman was found unresponsive inside the residence and later pronounced dead at the scene. Three other adults who were inside the home were transported to area hospitals. A 66 year old man was taken with critical, life-threatening injuries, a 32 year old man suffered serious injuries, and a 60 year old woman was treated for minor injuries and released. The structure was declared a total loss.
Coordinated Emergency Response
Authorities said that the response involved multiple agencies working together under challenging conditions. The Cameron Volunteer Fire Department, Milano Volunteer Fire Department, Allegiance EMS, the Milam County Fire Marshal’s Office, the Precinct 2 Justice of the Peace, and deputies from the sheriff’s office all responded to the scene.
Sheriff’s officials are conducting an active investigation into the cause of the fire. At this time, no official determination has been released, and deputies have said there are no immediate indications of foul play as investigators continue their review.
