A large anti-Iranian regime protest in Westwood, Los Angeles, was disrupted when a U-Haul box truck drove into a group of demonstrators, injuring at least two people. The rally took place outside the Wilshire Federal Building and drew hundreds of participants expressing opposition to Iran’s ruling government and support for ongoing protests inside the country.

According to authorities and witness accounts, the truck entered the crowd unexpectedly while the demonstration was underway. The vehicle displayed signs reading “No Shah” and “No Mullah.” Video footage shows protesters scattering as the truck moved through the area, with several individuals attempting to stop it. Witnesses reported climbing onto the vehicle and pulling the driver out before police arrived.

Los Angeles Police Department officers took the driver into custody at the scene. The Los Angeles Fire Department evaluated at least two injured individuals on site, and both declined transport to a hospital. Officials continued to assess whether a third person may have been injured. No fatalities were reported.

As a precaution, police secured the area and inspected the vehicle while dispersing the remaining crowd earlier than planned. A bomb squad was also called to ensure there were no additional threats. Authorities have not released the driver’s identity and stated that the motive remains under investigation.

LAPD is reviewing the incident as a possible act of political violence and emphasized that the investigation is ongoing. Officials urged the public to remain alert during large demonstrations and noted the importance of coordination between event organizers and law enforcement to ensure public safety as inquiries continue.
