Early in the morning on April 7 2026 emergency responders were called to a fire at a distribution warehouse in Ontario California. The warehouse was operated by NFI Industries as a storage and distribution center for paper products manufactured by Kimberly Clark including toilet paper and related household goods.
The fire was determined to be the result of intentional arson. The individual responsible was identified as Chamel Abdulkarim a resident of Highland California who worked at the facility through NFI Industries the third party logistics provider contracted by Kimberly Clark.
Abdulkarim entered the warehouse and deliberately set fire to packages of toilet paper. He recorded video of the act on Instagram while the flames began spreading through the stored materials. In the footage he voiced frustrations about compensation stating You may not pay us enough to fucking live but these bitches are dirt cheap. There goes your inventory. All you had to do was pay us enough to live.
The video captured the ignition and initial spread of the fire among the combustible paper goods. Authorities received multiple tips during the emergency that contributed to identifying the suspect. Police located Abdulkarim near the scene shortly afterward and took him into custody.
He was charged with multiple felony counts of arson and transported to the West Valley Detention Center in Rancho Cucamonga where he is being held without bail pending further legal proceedings.
Firefighters from the Ontario Fire Department along with mutual aid units responded and worked for several hours to control and extinguish the blaze. All workers present at the warehouse were evacuated during the incident and no injuries were reported. The fire caused extensive damage to the building and its inventory of paper products.
The investigation confirmed the intentional origin of the fire through the video evidence and other corroborating details from the scene. Officials continue to examine the full sequence of events surrounding the arson at the distribution center.
