A difficult time for students and their parents, as well as for teachers: choosing a career path. Whether in middle school, high school, or even beyond, many feel lost, unsure where to turn to make the right choices. Yet, career guidance for young people is at the heart of many initiatives and methods. Here are some that could change your life.

Live jobs

“Live Careers” are 45- to 55-minute virtual meetings for students from 7th to 12th grade. They can interact with professionals from a variety of sectors who have had traditional or unusual career paths, which they can share. Films shot in companies allow them to discover the professional environment. Young people can learn more about a wide variety of careers: public works, media, video games, manufacturing, etc.

MOOCs to help with orientation towards higher education

MOOC, an acronym for “Massive Open Online Course,” is an online training program. Those offered by ProjetSUP are designed for high school students. Young people can explore disciplines, career paths, and careers in a wide range of fields. Designed by universities and leading colleges, they are accessible 24/7 throughout the school year on the FUN-MOOC platform.

My future

MyFuture is a platform that helps young people aged 14 to 24 explore the professional world. Middle school and high school students, as well as young adults, can meet professionals from all sectors remotely, both in person and remotely. This platform offers videos and live broadcasts with professionals. There’s also a web app for finding an internship or work-study program, as well as tips for writing a good resume and cover letter.

The association in 10 years

The association “Me in 10 years” offers interventions and activities directly in classrooms. It supports 3rd year middle school students and high school students from priority neighborhoods and rural areas or enrolled in priority education networks (REP/+). The goal is to help students in their career choices , and to promote the acquisition of know-how and interpersonal skills. The association evolves around 4 themes: public speaking, diversity in the professions, codes of the professional world and learning geographical mobility.

Parcoursmetiers

Euro France Association set up the website www.parcoursmetiers.tv. On it, you can find nearly 10,000 videos about careers and training courses created by young people following the “I film the job I like” and “I film my training” competitions. Careers in animal care, web, real estate, and even sports: all the keys to making the right choices for your future.

The My Online Orientation service

On the “My Online Orientation” platform, ONISEP and its advisors answer all the questions middle school, high school, college, and even parents may have. Whether they have questions about career guidance, training programs, or careers, they have access to a phone number, a chat, and an email address. A free toolbox is also available.

Youth Guidance External Solutions

The Intra-Personal Orientation Method

When it comes to choosing “what they will do later,” young people can feel completely lost. Indeed, the time for academic guidance comes at the very moment when they are wondering who they are. This quest for identity is therefore replaced by a “social quest,” which is why many of them do not know where to turn. Intra-Personal guidance works with psychoanalysis and psychology tools to help the person gain confidence and clarity about their personal and professional future.

The Ikigai method

Ikigai is a Japanese method used to find your life’s mission. This term translates to “reason for existing.” The goal is to sit down with a notebook and pencil and think about the thing you love to do (passion), what the world needs (mission), a job you can get paid for (profession), and what you are good at (vocation). Once you have found these 4 criteria, it is much easier to move forward in your life and project yourself into a fulfilling future.

Orientation Nights

Thanks to the CCI’s Career Nights, it’s possible to find your way without stress. Middle school, high school, and college students are invited to calmly prepare for their professional future. Whether online or in person, these events offer opportunities for information, discovery, and discussion with professionals from different sectors and career specialists. The program includes conferences, speed dating sessions with company managers, and personalized interviews with career counselors. This way, young people can discover the professions, sectors, and careers available to them.

The trade specialists

Métierologue is a profession that is still little known. Currently, there are only eight métierologues in France. These individuals support young people in their career paths, using a very specific methodology. Their role is to offer an in-depth exploration of careers and to involve those seeking their path, making them proactive. The advantage of métierologues, unlike career counselors, is that they have the time to help young people and their parents and provide personalized advice.
